Job Description:The Tech performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Tech will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.
Posting Specifics - Pay Range: $28.15/hour + depending on experience (Certified). $25.58/hour + depending on experience (Uncertified)

Us. Our absolutely state-of-the-art OR boasts 21 surgical suites, with 2 designated for CV cases and 2 designated as hybrid rooms. Our Main OR specialties include: Bariatric, Robotics, General Surgery, Ortho, Neuro, OB-GYN and CV, including open heart cases.

Your day. As a CST, you need to know how to:
- Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assemble , organize and complete case carts accordin g to doctor's preference lists.
- Provide appropriate instrumentation , suture and all su pplies as requested and provide and maintain a sterile environment. May assist surgeon by passing instrume nts to surgeon during cases.
- Count sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper techn ique and established policy.
- Assist in maintenance an d care of specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis. Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recom mended standards of practice.
- Assist with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment. Care fo r instruments and equipment.

Minimum Requirements (Certified):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of a formal, accredited Surgica l Technologist program
- Current NCCT Surgical Technologist certification (TS-C) or NBSTSA certification
- Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist is required
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association
Minimum Requirements (Uncertified)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of a formal, accredited Surgica l Technologist program or proof of on-the-job training/demonstrated work experience is required
- Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association
Preferred:
- EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of Surgical Technician experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
